How we make your account security our priority
Savings Plus and Nationwide work collaboratively to protect your information as our commitment to you and your hard-earned dollars. We're vigilant about ensuring our processes and practices include checks and balances with a focus on fraud prevention. The protection of your account gets even stronger if you play an active role.
- Create your online account and review it frequently. Not creating an online account profile opens an opportunity for someone else to do it for you and without your knowledge. Setting up your online account with a unique username and password also gives you the ability to easily monitor your account transactions and update your contact information. This helps us notify you quickly in the event fraudulent activity occurs.
- Use strong and unique passwords and change them regularly.
- Mix uppercase and lowercase letters, numerals, and special characters
- Use unique passwords for each online site you use
- Hide passwords so they cannot be copied or misused by others
- Change passwords regularly
- Keep your username and password confidential
- Stay vigilant against scam or phishing attempts. Phishing emails often have poor spelling, incorrect grammar, wrong phone numbers, suspicious email addresses, or bad links; however, as phishing emails become more sophisticated, they are less likely to have obvious errors.
- Don't download attachments or select links from unknown senders
- If in doubt, delete the email
- Don't ignore updates. Install updates on your computer, devices, and apps regularly. Updates often contain enhancements to online security, which help your device and accounts stay protected.
- Avoid installing any applications from unknown sources
- Use the app store link from financial institution websites
- Always carefully check the privacy information on the apps you use
- Monitor accounts at least once a month for unwanted activity
- Contact the Savings Plus Solutions Center at (800) 616-4776 immediately to report suspicious activity.

Nationwide Account Pledge is our commitment to help protect you if fraud happens.
If a distribution from your account occurs due to a failure of a Nationwide® control and is promptly reported, we will restore the unrecoverable amount of the unauthorized withdrawal from the date of the original transaction.
What steps do I need to take if fraud occurs, and what is covered in the pledge?
Nationwide Account Pledge and the restoration of the unrecoverable amount are subject to certain limitations and restrictions.
Following an unauthorized withdrawal, participants are required to:
- Notify the Savings Plus Solutions Center as soon as you become aware of authorized activity on your account
- Complete and submit the Affidavit of Forgery provided to you
- Provide a copy of a filed police report
- Fully cooperate with Nationwide in assessing the fraud
The pledge does not cover losses that result from a participant's, their designee's, family member's, or acquaintance's:
- Negligence
- Fraudulent acts
- Sharing of information or account credentials
The pledge does not cover damages incurred by the participant such as:
- Legal fees
- Expenses
- Tax consequences
- Indirect or non-monetary expenses
Losses will not automatically be covered when caused by a failure of an authorized third party (e.g., the Plan Sponsor, a financial professional, administrator, consultant, etc.) with access to the account, but Nationwide will partner on the resolution.
